Growing at home may be an idea that appeals to us but what do we do when we don’t have enough space to plant everything we want? The solution is the vertical garden, the steps are simple and if you are a construction enthusiast this idea is a perfect fit for you. A vertical herb garden can be constructed with a pallet, a trellis, a shelf and many other ways.
How can we construct a vertical garden step by step?
The materials we will need vary depending on the species we choose. Our suggestion is to create a vertical garden with a pallet.
- 1 palette
- 1 palette knife 1 palette
- Scented plants
A key part of creating a vertical garden is the design. We need to take proper measurements of the available space, choose the right soil for our plants and calculate the sunshine levels of where we will place the vertical garden.
Plant selection is the most important step in creating a vertical garden. Based on the measurements from the design step, we will select those plants that are appropriate for the available weather conditions. Our goal is not only to have production, but for the plants to live in the ideal conditions and be healthy.
No matter how much we monitor our plants or care for them we must always protect them from the weather. Also protection doesn’t stop at whether we cover them when it snows or when the sun burns. We need to watch for possible insects and discoloration of the leaves. Each sign is an indication of a different need for the plant.
If you like construction the process of building a vertical pallet garden will be very easy.
Step 1 : After putting on the gloves we take our pots, soil and plants. With the screwdriver we drill holes in the bottom of the pots (if they don’t already have them).
Step 2 : Take the pallet and place it vertically on the ground. Using the pliers, wire the pots around the perimeter and secure them to the pallet in rows (horizontally and vertically).
Step 3 : Add the soil to the pots and transfer the plants and water lightly .
Step 4 : Place the pallet in a bright spot.
